About the artist

In my paintings, I attempt to create unsettling snapshots in time, where objects float together and intersect, creating tension and drama.

These compositions are built organically, starting with a mark, shape or pattern. Doodles and drawings from sketchbooks are incorporated in an attempt to add mystery and whimsy.

I enjoy the unintended consequences of my creative decisions going in directions I hadn't expected. I will occasionally sabotage my creations in order to push myself into a spot where I am less comfortable.

The end goal is to create a place – or moment – where things are very serious and very silly at the same time. Where it seems as though nothing makes sense together, yet everything falls into place.
